The pig is shown below in its various stages of costuming, from prototype to performance. Stage photo by Alistar Thain.
My inflatable pig dance costume was commissioned by the Armitage Ballet Company. I created this nylon ripstop work in in 1989 in collaboration with Anthony Nuzzo, a consummate pattern drafter and Cesar Cabral, a master carpenter in the fine arts. The form inflates by a small fan worn on the dancer's back. The sculpture served as a visual centerpiece in the dance CONTEMPT choreographed by Karole Armitage with set design and decor by Jeff Koons and David Salle. The sculpture is my copyrighted art work and counts among the first inflatables of its kind.
